    This two-day, 13-hour course will equip you for the Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification exam* that is necessary for commercial drone use.

    Drone technology is revolutionizing how landscapes are sold, designed and built. From creating 3D renderings and estimating to documenting progress and showcasing your projects with fly-through videos, drones can elevate your business above the competition. However, the FAA requires anyone using a drone commercially to be certified.

    Presenter Mark Patrick Collins is Associate Professor, Unmanned Systems, at Indiana State University, which is ranked one of the Top Five Best Drone Training Colleges in the U.S. by Drone Training HQ. As the founder of LUCA Air, he also works with the FAA to prepare the industry to operate large unmanned cargo aircraft in the National Airspace System.

    Instructor Mark Patrick Collins’ Biography:

    I am Associate Professor and Director of Unmanned Systems (UMS) at Indiana State University (ISU). My responsibilities include instructing UMS courses to undergraduate students, developing new courses, advising students, developing grant opportunities, researching ways unmanned cargo aircraft (UCA) can operate in the National Airspace, and working with the community. I am a Doctoral Student at Unmanned Vehicle University in Unmanned Systems Engineering. I have a M.S. in Aviation & Transportation from Lewis University, B.S. in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University (SIU), and A.S. in Aviation Maintenance from SIU. My FAA certifications include remote drone pilot, private pilot, airframe & powerplant certificates. It is my long term goal to start the first large unmanned cargo airline (LUCA) in the National Airspace System (NAS). I have received international recognition from the Platform of Unmanned Cargo Aircraft for his research in LUCA in the NAS. I am a business owner and entrepreneur. I own a sign manufacturing business in Elkader Iowa called Signs N Frames. My wife and I also manage a property management business across three states and two countries. Before starting these businesses, I worked at Atlas Air Cargo Airline from 1999- 2003 as an aircraft heavy check site representative and as purchasing manager. My responsibilities at Atlas Air included purchasing labor and fuel for 50 + Boeing 747 aircraft from places such as Singapore, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Germany, & Mainland China. Before Atlas Air I worked at AAR Allen Aircraft in WoodDale IL as Site Representative from 1995- 1999 and was in the Army Illinois National Guard from 1990-1996. Besides my career goals, I am happily married, am a 4rth Degree Knight of Columbus member at my church, I am working on my instrument rating, own and operate a C172 Skyhawk and plan on purchasing a Lancair IVP airplane someday.
