  • Equip Launches Tree Care Arena

Expanding on several years of successful tree and arborist programming, Equip has created the new Tree Care Arena in Freedom Hall.

    Equip Launches Tree Care Arena

After several years of successful tree and arborist programming, Equip Exposition is going bigger. The new Tree Care Arena, sponsored by Altec, takes over Freedom Hall with live pruning and limb removal demonstrations on a 50-foot-tall tree transported into the arena for training and education.

Trainers from The Davey Institute will host daily training covering the safety requirements for tree care, the equipment needed, and the many techniques tree care professionals use with bucket trucks, lifts, chainsaws, and other common tools.

A living laboratory for tree care

"For landscapers, tree care can be an excellent way to grow their profits and service lines," said Kris Kiser, President and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), the international trade association which owns and manages the trade show. "Trees are key for communities that appreciate green space. For the landscapers, dealers, contractors, hardscape experts, and outdoor power equipment manufacturers attending Equip, Tree Care Arena will be a living laboratory for learning."

Dan Herms, vice president and general manager of the Davey Institute, added, "The educational material the Institute shares at the Expo is designed to teach professionals how to safely and efficiently work around trees while utilizing some of the most common and up-to-date equipment in the trade."

What you can learn at Tree Care Arena

Beyond the live tree demonstrations, attendees can dig into the full scope of tree care work:

    • Bucket trucks and lifts. Watch real demonstrations with large equipment to see how pros use trucks and lifts for tree trimming and care.
    • Tree removal, planting, and mulching. The core services that round out a tree care offering.
    • Small tree and shrub work. Planting and pruning techniques for smaller-scale jobs.
    • The business case. The opportunities that come with adding tree care to your service lines.

Tree Care Arena offerings are included in Equip Exposition registration at no additional cost to attendees.

    Why it matters to attendees

For Forestt Greeno, with Greencare in northeast Arkansas, attending Equip helps him grow his tree care business. "I've always learned a lot of useful knowledge ... that is super important to being able to provide a quality service to clients," said Greeno.
