    Ascend to new heights with professional tree climbing arborists as they share basic techniques and systems accepted within the industry to safely, efficiently, and effectively perform tree care operations.

    Climbing instruction will be provided by arborists while aloft in a tree set up within Freedom Hall. Presented by The Davey Tree Expert Company in collaboration with The Women's Tree Climbing Workshop.

    Instructor Resumes:

    Melissa LeVangie Ingersoll is a Certified Arborist, an ISA Tree Worker Climber Specialist, and holds the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. She is the co-founder of the Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop, which started in 2009. She is the Customer Engagement & Experience Leader for RBI Corp. Shelter Tree, an arborist equipment supplier. Formerly, she was an Asian Long-horned Beetle Climbing Inspector for the USDA and MA DCR and owner of Trees New England, an arborist consulting firm. Melissa is a passionate instructor and coach who loves to teach. She is the Past-President of MA Tree Wardens and Foresters Association and of the New England Chapter of ISA. Past NEC-ISA, CT, NY, ME, and NH Tree Climbing Champions/Past ITCC Competitor.Bear LeVangie is an ISA Certified Arborist, CT licensed arborist, and holds the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. She is the co-founder of the Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop which was founded in 2009 and now serves as their Executive Director. Bear worked as a utility arborist for Eversource Energy in CT, as well an climbing inspector of Asian Long-horned Beetle for the USDA and MA DCR. Bear is an energetic and gifted coach. Bear also has served as Past-President of the New England Chapter of ISA, holds pesticide licenses in CT, MA and NY and and past NEC-ISA, CTPA, NY, ME, and NH Tree Climbing Champion & ITCC Competitor.

    Rebecca Seibel: is a lead instructor for the Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop, Director Of Training for North American Training Solutions, and she owns TreeSpirit Consulting, LLC, a contract climbing, in person and online safety training business. Her qualifications include: ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, TRAQ holder, TCIA Certified TreeCare Safety Professional, Consulting Utility Forester Professional Qualified, past MN Tree Climbing Champion, and past ITCC Competitor.

    Alex Julius (she/her/hers) is the Employee Development and Safety Training Specialist at The Davey Tree Expert Company. She is a Board Certified Master Arborist, a Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist, and is Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. Alex recently co-authored the 4th edition of the Tree Climbers’ Guide. She is an assistant instructor with the Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop. Alex has her bachelor’s degree in Architecture & Urbanism from Smith College, a Master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, and a graduate certificate in Instructional Design. Alex resides in Urbana, Illinois.
